Paupek Oy, originally from Oulu, has been a pioneer in the construction technology sector in Finland for over 40 years, and has relied on the expertise of Marakon, operating as part of Normet, for almost the entire duration of its operations.

Paupek Oy began its operations in 1980 with diamond drilling and sawing work, primarily in the industrial sector. Very soon, the work also revealed a need for material removal and demolition. Following numerous paper machine renovations, foundation works, and machine beam demolition projects, the field of operations has become increasingly challenging over the years, and greater demands have also begun to be placed on the equipment. 

Piirala identifies requirements related to recycling and sustainable development as the biggest change in the industry. Nowadays, sorting takes place on site and emissions are closely monitored and controlled. The increase in knowledge about, among other things, hazardous dust and emissions has accelerated innovation. 

Protecting the environment and personnel is an important and positive change. The machines themselves must be such that they do not generate excessive emissions, and features such as pressurised cabs and filters have been introduced. EU directives define a great deal of what we do and they are strict – sometimes we at Paupek are even stricter, Piirala says.

Piirala finds that both the sales process and the commissioning have gone smoothly. 

Everything has worked really well with the new hammer. It is an important tool for us, and it is in continuous use. We made our choice based on size class and power output, and the dealer recommended this particular hammer to us. Commissioning was straightforward, and we also received support from the dealer, he says.

At the end of the day, it's the people that matter most 

Equipment in heavy use requires active maintenance and servicing to operate optimally. The technology in Normet's equipment – such as automatic greasers, improved housings, and seals – has improved product durability. In addition, the correct pressures and flow rates can be optimised when using the hammer. In addition to reliable technology, when operating hours are high, the importance of maintenance and spare parts services is truly significant. When the need for servicing arises, the matter must be dealt with promptly.
