Circular economy expert InfraPurku Oy streamlines its end-to-end project work with Marakon

The earthmoving, aggregate, and demolition industries are not among the easiest sectors to operate in. Competition for contracts is constantly intensifying, and companies are required to be flexible and efficient while operating in an increasingly environmentally friendly manner under varying conditions. Turku-based InfraPurku Oy has been growing its operations at an accelerating pace in recent years, with a focus on the circular economy. And when it comes to the procurement and maintenance of equipment, they trust in Marakon's solid expertise.

For many companies, the circular economy and other matters related to environmentally friendly operations are additional requirements of doing business, but at InfraPurku Oy they have always been at the core of operations. The company's staff has over 15 years of experience in various water, earthmoving, aggregate, and demolition works, but when InfraPurku was founded in 2020, it was immediately clear what comprehensive services meant to them.

Today, InfraPurku carries out a wide range of demanding demolition projects across Finland, with a particular focus on Southwest and Southern Finland. The company has strong in-house expertise in demanding, precision-intensive asbestos and hazardous material removals, and in addition, large-scale demolition works are carried out from start to finish using modern equipment, just like any other contract. Every project is managed from planning through to waste recycling.

"We want to be a hassle-free and reliable choice for our clients. Total demolition is demanding and long-term work, and we offer all services under one roof. When we keep all the threads in our own hands, quality can be trusted and cost-efficiency is guaranteed," Lindholm says.

Our own circular economy area as a driver of business growth and smooth contracting

InfraPurku's operations have always been grounded in the circular economy, which the demolition business supports. A major achievement in this regard is the company's own circular economy area, Suomen EcoPark. The circular economy area opened in Haaja, Salo in October 2023, and initially accepts and processes clean concrete/brick waste as well as clean surplus soil.

"EcoPark was an important project for us, and it has significantly boosted our operations. EcoPark's location is excellent – the site is quickly accessible from the Turku motorway. In addition, on-site work runs smoothly with our own in-house staff," Lindholm says.

EcoPark's operations are continuously being expanded. In addition to waste reception points, the circular economy area is home to InfraPurku's own audited production facility, which is capable of producing clean crushed concrete in-house. The goal in the near future is also to obtain aggregate for their own use.

"Because our production facility's process is audited, we are able to produce clean EoW (End of Waste) concrete in addition to concrete bearing a waste label. This allows the concrete produced at our facility to be utilised in a much wider range of applications. It also saves our clients time and money," Lindholm says.

Modern equipment and its careful maintenance are an essential part of InfraPurku's customer-oriented operations. Lindholm, who previously worked at Caterpillar, knows work machinery inside and out, and his extensive experience on the financing side has supported InfraPurku's growth. Marakon has long been a familiar partner for Lindholm, one they have turned to for both equipment procurement and maintenance needs.

"Our machines and extensive range of tools are all our own. For example, all our hammers are Rammer and were procured through Marakon, as were the quick couplers that are essential to our work. Especially in Finland, where conditions vary greatly, quick couplers significantly enhance worksite safety and efficiency," says Lindholm.

The ease of acquiring and commissioning a new hammer came as a pleasant surprise

The newest addition to InfraPurku's fleet, the Rammer E02 hammer, was acquired somewhat unexpectedly, by Lindholm's own admission. Lindholm had brought another, larger hammer in to Marakon for servicing – one that hadn't been used in a while. During the service visit, however, one smaller, impressive hammer caught Lindholm's attention, and the conversation with Marakon's staff turned to it.

"We did have a need for a smaller hammer, but I wasn't actually planning to buy one just yet. However, an excellent Marakon colleague suggested we try the hammer out. From just the idea of it, everything moved quickly to the worksite," Lindholm says.

Even though Marakon was already a familiar partner to Lindholm, the smoothness of the entire process was an extremely pleasant surprise. The Rammer E02 hammer was delivered swiftly to a worksite in Lohja for testing. It quickly became clear that the agile little hammer was exactly the right fit for InfraPurku's needs. According to Lindholm, the purchase decision was easy to make thanks to Marakon's knowledgeable sales service and fast delivery.

"The hammer was first used to chip away at a loading dock in extremely tight spaces, and we found it to be the right choice for us. The hammer's power-to-weight ratio is really excellent. It has been an efficient and precise piece of equipment to use," says Lindholm.

Marakon's expertise ensures exactly the right tools for the customer's needs

The new Rammer E02 hammer's working life at InfraPurku is only just beginning, but there is no shortage of work ahead. Thanks to its precision and agility, the hammer can be used in places that are normally difficult to access, such as areas with a high density of pipes.

"We have several new contracts in the pipeline where a hammer like this is needed. For its size, this hammer is so powerful that there is certainly plenty of work for it. This has been a great acquisition for us," says Lindholm.

InfraPurku particularly commends Marakon for its excellent, prompt service and solid expertise. In addition, fast and comprehensive spare parts service is a major reason why InfraPurku trusts in its partnership with Marakon.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Marakon. They are a truly skilled team, and their experience means they are able to recommend the right equipment for the right applications. Excellent service, all in all," Lindholm concludes.
