The earthmoving and aggregate transport sector, like many other industries, has undergone significant development over recent decades. Working methods have changed due to, among other things, stricter emission requirements and varying site conditions, making it increasingly important to keep equipment up to date. Versatile earthmoving master Virén-Yhtiöt Oy invests particularly in keeping its machinery current, and when questions arise, they turn to Marakon.
Virén-Yhtiöt Oy is a family business that has operated in the earthmoving sector for decades, now spanning four generations. The company, which initially operated with just a single truck, has since grown considerably, and today its modern, carefully selected fleet includes several trucks, excavators, wheel loaders, and other equipment. The company's strength lies in its undeniable versatility and strong cooperation networks.
Sjöblom describes the earthmoving sector as hectic and competitive. Advances in technology offer many benefits, but also constantly require the quick adoption of new things, as worksites cannot afford to wait. In addition, increasingly strict emission requirements demand precision from operators in both working methods and equipment.
"In the long run, the new requirements are something that benefits all of us. It has always been a priority for us to keep our equipment modern and in good condition – that way we can carry out diverse jobs while taking these requirements into account," says Sjöblom.
Rapid response capability at the core of Virén-Yhtiöt's competitiveness
Virén-Yhtiöt's ability to meet a wide variety of customer needs and carry out very different projects is made possible not only by good equipment, but also by skilled personnel and their ability to respond quickly. The ability to solve potential challenges is at its best when the tools needed for a solution are readily available.
"Generally, the needs of a worksite are easy to anticipate from experience, but sometimes we need an additional attachment for new tasks. And if one is needed, it should be on site as quickly as possible," says Sjöblom.
For example, last winter a worksite needed a powerful hammer compatible with the base machine on short notice to break up frozen ground. Sjöblom then turned to Marakon, a company he was already familiar with. In the end, a suitable rental hammer was delivered to the worksite and ready for work in about an hour.
"Marakon's professional recommended that we rent a Normet Xrock XB27 hammer based on our needs and base machine. We weren't familiar with that particular unit, but we trusted Marakon's recommendation. The right hammer happened to be 10 km away at another worksite, and we had it at our own site within an hour," says Sjöblom.
In line with the Marakon professional's recommendation, the hammer was a suitable match for the base machine, and commissioning it went smoothly. The worksite was up and running quickly, and the hammer performed efficiently and as promised.
"Once the flow rates and everything else matched up, commissioning and actual use were easy. The automatic greasing units came with the hammer too. The hammer struck really nicely and efficiently. No complaints whatsoever," says Sjöblom.

Marakon's rental service enables flexibility and peace of mind
Virén-Yhtiöt's rental experience with the Normet Xrock XB27 hammer was excellent, and Sjöblom considers it likely that a similar hammer will be rented from Marakon again. Purchasing a hammer outright is not out of the question either.
Sjöblom regards Marakon's strengths as its excellent customer service and long experience. Virén-Yhtiöt has turned to Marakon before as well, when advice was needed regarding their own hammer.
"Marakon is a company everyone knows – a truly trusted company, and for good reason. They have been in the industry for a very long time and know what they are doing. It's also great that they always respond quickly, even to basic questions. The service is excellent," Sjöblom concludes.
